After breakfast at McDonald’s we started to bike at 6:10 on I80. It has been a cool and overcast day, wore the jacket all day and at one point we had to stop to get out my full gloves. Took a break at Hana, from there to the windmills the wind was directly in or face which made for slow going (between 6 up hill and 11 going down hill). The first thing we did at Medicine Bow was to each get an ice cream bar for $.89. The terrain was anything but flat but where told that the grades we rode were much better than on I80. Distance today is 58.82. The temperature while sitting on a bench at 12:30 is 66 degress.
We are staying at the historic Virginian Hotel built in 1909, room for $30. Had a couple of Bud Light Lime beers and a bowl of chile in the bar down stairs.

A couple of beers, I bet you sleep like a baby. What are you worried about, sounds like you just relaxed and rolled along the black ribbon. No flats, sounds like a great day. What do you like better a day riding in the 100s or wearing a jacket with gloves?
Glad to hear you had “real” food for once. McDonald’s might be Dan’s gourmet choice, but I BEG you to find better food for yourself. You need some fruits and veggies and maybe even some pasta **gasp**!! You are doing great – just keep going, just keep going….
I agree with your wife, goto Starbucks and get their oatmeal and a good cup of coffee. You still drink coffee, Right?
Also goto Subway their breakfast sandwich is great. Just like an egg McMuffin but you can add all of the fixings for like $2.50. And they did a good job picking their coffee.
Or if you really are a Dutchman….goto a food store and buy prepackaged oatmeal, add some raisins… and add hot water in a microwave… add a small pint of milk and you are set as well.
Add a bananna…good source of potassium so my mom said, which you are sweating out on a rapid fashion.
And finally, I have heard that Power Gel will help you get over the wall as well.
Your pushy friend.
