Julesburg, CO to Ogallala, NE

Woke up just after 5, on the bike by 5:30, beautiful morning,  temp ~60. Nothing was open in Julesburg, Big Springs, or Brule. Stopped and had Fig Newton’s and raisins. The corn in this area looks really good,  chest high. Compared to the less than knee high hailed out corn west of Kimball it looks great.
Other than the climb out of the Big Springs valley on hwy 138 the ride was flat. We did 32 miles at an average speed of 15.6.
Staying at the Oregon Trail Motel tonight.
Had lunch at the Hoke’s dinner and then walked to a couple of conveince store for Dan to purchase Mountain Dew.

  1. So life is good….no more moutains, unless you count the corn, flat lands to ride on.

  2. You know my day yesterday was one home repair job after another…. I am jealous.

  3. At this rate, why not continue on the the east coast.
Once you pass through the dynamic plains states you’re into civilization again. The states are smaller so you can make it to the east coast faster! makes sense, right? To an engineer at lesast? Do the coast-to-coast run and chalk it off the bucket list!
