Started at 6 after going to Luve’s truck stop for breakfast, I had a ricekrispy and coffee. 5 miles out I noticed my back tire was going soft, found a nail sticking out, patched the tube.
It was interesting to see guys on horseback moving cattle, other than that there was nothing beteen Wamsutter and Rawlings.
Found that we cross the Continental Divide more than once, see the pictures, that is Dan’s bike in my picture not mine.
At mile 30 I physically hit the wall, not sure if it was the long day yesterday, or the fact that I did not eat much yesterday, or I am just old. It did not help that my break pad was rubbing on the back wheel as I did not have the back tire set in the frame correctly. Rode a total of 43.63 miles, wind was from the south again.
We got into Rawlins in time for McDonald’s breakfast.
At the Key Motel I removed the Continental Gator that I put on yesterday and put the old Specialized Armidillo back on after checking the casing very closely. Believe that it is better at keeping the larger stuff from puncturing the tube.
Walked to the Pamida a block away to pick up vitamins and more Ibuprofen as well as food supplies. Talked to the pharmacist about where to stay, see suggested taking hwy 30 up to Medicine Bow. Also found that between Laramie and Cheyenne we will have to climb up to 8,640 feet.
Just before going to bed Dan checked tires and found my BOB was soft, found a wire, patched the tube. Dan pulled a wire out of his front tire, we will have to see if it flat in the morning.
